Dr. Venegas is board certified in
internal medicine and has an active interest in preventative
medicine, sports medicine cardiology and diabetes.
Dr. Carlos Venegas, host of The Topic
of Cancer heard weekly on 990 AM, Texas Talk Radio, was born in
Chicago, Illinois where he spent the first 18 years of his life.
His aspirations to become a doctor started in high school where he
found out how much he enjoyed Biology class mostly due to his
teacher and hearing stories from his uncle who was a physician.
Dr. Venegas started his college career at the University of
California at San Diego where he rarely attended classes because of
his passion for the beach and sand volleyball. He began
playing volleyball on a professional level and played on the A.V.P.
pro-beach volleyball tour for approximately 13 years.
He attended Loyola University in Chicago, the University of Health
Sciences - Chicago Medical School where he received his degree in
medicine in 1991. Dr. Venegas came to Dallas to do his
internship and residency at UT Southwestern / Parkland Hospital and
finished his training in 1994.
Dr. Venegas is divorced and has an
awesome son, Raef St. John, or as he is affectionately known, Sinjin. |
